Statue of Goddess of Learning Sri Saraswathi in Puttaparthi-Prashanthi Nilayam- campus.

As per Hindu Faith, the great festival of Dassarah or Navarathra, is for paying obeisance to the Goddess of Valor and power-Shri Durga-in the first three days, second three days are devoted to Goddess of Wealth – Lakshmi- and the third three days are devoted to the Goddess of Learning – SARASWATHI-. Mahakavi Bharathiyar has sung in praise of GODDESS SARASWATHI in his epic poem PANJALI SABATHAM based on the Indian epic Mahabharatha. Two of his songs in original and my translation in English are given today in the ENVIUS THOUGHTS.

God/Goddess of Learning  in other faiths:

“Minerva” of Rome,

“Huginn and Munin” of the Norse religion,

“Allah” of Islam,

“Jesus Christ” of Christianity.

Sits on the petals of white lotus
Dwelling in splendid and great status
Great melodious music she likes
Keeps that stringed organ veena in hands
Similar to great divine nectar
To pour Tamil words in her altar
Right from my childhood she came and blessed
To take care of me, my skills well dressed! (1)
