Chapter Eleven

அதிகாரம் 11


செய்ந்நன்றி அறிதல்

1.செய்யாமல் செய்த உதவிக்கு வையகமும்

வானகமும் ஆற்ற லரிது.

Seyyaamal seydha udhavikku vaiyagtamum

Vaanagamum aatra laridhu.

Help – not in return

Unasked sure is worth beyond

The earth and heaven!

When a help is rendered not as a return for the one done, even the earth and heaven are not equal.                                  (101)

2.காலத்தி னால்செய்த நன்றி சிறிதுஎனினும்

ஞாலத்தின் மாணப் பெரிது.

Kalaththi naalseydha  nanri siridhu eninum

Gnaalaththin  maaNap peridhu.

Though quantum is small

Help rendered to one on time

More than world – stands tall!

Though the quantum of help rendered is small, when it is done at the appropriate time, it is more than equal to a world.                      (102)

3.பயந்தூக்கார் செய்த உதவி நயன் தூக்கின்

நன்மை கடலிற் பெரிது.

Payanthookkaar seytha udhavi nayan thookkin

Nanmai kadalinum peridhu.

Greater than the sea

Is the help rendered to one

Sans expectation!

When a help is renderd without expecting any thing in return, it is indeed more than the vastness of the sea.                                               (103)

4.தினைத்துணை நன்றி செயினும் பனைத்துணையாக்

கொள்வர் பயன் தெரிவார்.

ThinaiththuNai nandri seyinum panaiththuNaiyaak

KoLvar payan therivaar.

Who knows the value

Deems the help received sky high

Though is minuscule!

Those who know the value of the grain of a help rendered will deem it as sky high.                       (104)

5.உதவி வரைத்தன்று உதவி; உதவி

செயப்பட்டார் சால்பின் வரைத்து.

Udhavi varaiththanru udhavi; udhavi

Seyappattaar saalbin varaiththu.

Help done in return

Needs no equalization

Lies on minds that churn!

There is no limit for helping. It all depends on the mind of the giver and the beneficiary.                                       (105)

  1. மறவற்க மாசற்றார் கேண்மை; துறவற்க

துன்பத்துள் துப்பாயார் நட்பு.

Maravarkka maasatraar kaeNmai thuravarkka

ThunbaththuL thuppaayaar natpu.

Give up not that kind

Who stood by you in crisis

Hold the spotless friend!

Forget not the friendship of those without any blemish; similarly give up not the friendship of those who helped you at the time of your needs                              (106)

  1. எழுமை எழுபிறப்பும் உள்ளுவர் தங்கண்

விழுமம் துடைத்தவர் நட்பு.

Ezumai ezupirappum uLLuvar thangkaN

Vizumam thudaiththavar natpu.

The grateful people

Forget not in seven births

Those helped in trouble!

Those recipients of help from others when in distress and know the value of it, will be grateful to them for seven births.             (107)

  1. நன்றி மறப்பது நன்றன்று; நன்றல்லது

அன்றே மறப்பது நன்று.

Nanri marappadhu nanranru; nanralladhu

Anrae marappadhu nanru.

Not fair to forget

The good done; do forget bad

At once as nugget!

It is not fair to forget the good help one has extended; if any has done bad it is great to forget at once.                                           (108)

  1. கொன்றன்ன இன்னா செயினும் அவர்செய்த

ஒன்றுநன்று உள்ளக் கெடும்.

Konranna innaa seyinum avarseydha

Onru nanru uLLakkedum.

Harm done is erased

As you think of their good done

Evils you can’t trace!

Even if one has done an awfully bad thing like an attempt to  murder, if he has done some help earlier, that should be remembered and the bad forgotten                                              (109)

10.எந்நன்றி கொன்றார்க்கும் உய்வுண்டாம்; உய்வில்லை

செய்நன்றி கொன்ற மகற்கு.

Ennanri konraarkkum uyvuNdaam; uyvillai

Seynanri konra magarkku.

Redemption for all?

Not for the ungrateful men

Sins lead to the fall!

When the worst sinners have redemption; but not to the one who forgets the help rendered by another and proves  and behaves ungrateful.                                               (110)
