Here is something for our valuable viewers a repeat of A, Harshavardhan’s write up in News Today.
N V Subbaraman
Living life one poem a day, Jeevan Bheema Nagar poet N V Subbaraman has earned an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Record-Breaking for posting English poems every day without fail for the most number of days in his blog.
Subbaraman is a recipient of Versatile Blogger and Leibster Awards for his Blog Envius Thoughts in https://nvsr.wordpress.com which has an unbroken record of 1366 days of blogging with 1419 posts as on date.
Subbaraman says that his blog has an overall view score of 1,82,000 from 210 countries around the globe. These achievements earned him a place in the Asia Pacific Book of Records last year, for which the World Records University has now offered him a PhD.
But just these numbers alone do not do justice to the achievements of this 77-year-old bilingual poet and author of over 10 books of his own poems as well as translations of poems from prominent writers like Rabindranath Tagore, Bharathiyar, etc.
Among his notable works is the translation of Tyagaraja’s ‘Pancharatna Keerthanais‘ into Tamil which drew appreciation from the late President, Abdul Kalam.
A retired Deputy Zonal Manager from LIC, Subbaraman says that he started writing poetry 25 years back. He says. “Now this activity keeps me occupied. When I was studying, I used to get up at 6 am. While working in LIC, I woke up at 5 am. Now, after retirement, I wake up at 3 am every day.”
Subbaraman now runs a quarterly magazine called as Young Poet to encourage people under 25 to take up poetry and publishes a collection of their work in his books.
He also calls himself a Haikuist. Haiku is a very short form of traditional Japanese poetry with alternating lines having ‘5 7 5’ syllable format. “I have translated almost 500 Thirukurals into Haiku format,” he says.
