Are you surprised my dear and esteemed readers of Envius Thoughts! Quite possible –what is this topic for this SUNDAY STORY?
Where is a woman without man and who is a man without woman! In the wonderful creation of the Lord Almighty-Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient- all living beings are expected to play a complimentary and supplementary role for the broader peace and plenty, health and harmony, pleasure and prosperity of all on earth! In particular human beings cannot afford to have any bias-no discrimination on the basis of young or old, men or women, educated or otherwise, employed or unemployed, healthy or sick and so on….!
Yes what prompted today’s Sunday Story is November 25th is observed as the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women”. When there cannot be a WOMAN without MAN and WHERE IS a MAN without a WOMAN why these questions of eliminating violence against woman arise at all should engage the attention of all right thinking people all over the globe.
Theoretically may be all right-all are equal- man or woman is not subservient to the other. Equal partners in life! No woman without man and no man without woman!!!! But in practical life what happens is
anybody’s guess and experience!
The moment Doctor announces the birth of a “GIRL CHILD” seeds of discrimination are sown in the family!
As a girl child is born parents feel as if it is a burden-what a pity?
In the home, in the educational Institutions, in the work places and the society- oh! My God Women are treated unfortunately not in a decent and dignified way. It is most unfortunate that even at elementary level girl children are treated shabbily and atrociously by some of the members of teaching community. Poor children are being warned by that criminal minded teacher of dire consequences if the child talks something about what has happened to anyone. Probably “ME-TOO” movement has to get strong and deep into the women’s world right from the young ones.
At this, I always recollect the great patriotic national poet Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar from Tamil Nadu-who is one of my mentors from his heavenly abode rose in protest against the society\s indifference towards women fought for the rights and privileges of women through his precious writings and speeches in early nineteen hundreds.
Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today. It remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it. That indeed most cruel and to be eliminated.
In general terms, it manifests itself in physical, sexual and psychological forms, encompassing:
-
- intimate partner violence (battering, psychological abuse, femicide);
- sexual violence and harassment ( forced sexual acts, unwanted sexual advances, child sexual abuse, forced marriage, street harassment, stalking, cyber- harassment);
- human trafficking (slavery, sexual exploitation);
and
Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women issued by the UN General Assembly in 1993, defines violence against women as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.”
The adverse psychological, sexual and reproductive health consequences of VAWG affect women at all stages of their life. For example, early-set educational disadvantages not only represent the primary obstacle to universal schooling and the right to education for girls; down the line they are also to blame for restricting access to higher education and even translate into limited opportunities for women in the labor market.
While gender-based violence can happen to anyone, anywhere, some women and girls are particularly vulnerable – for instance, young girls and older women, migrants and refugees, indigenous women and ethnic minorities, or women and girls living with HIV and disabilities, and those living through humanitarian crises.
Violence against women continues to be an obstacle to achieving equality, development, peace as well as to the fulfillment of women and girls’ human rights. All in all, the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – to leave no one behind – cannot be fulfilled without putting an end to violence against women and girls.
It is really unfortunate that in a country-treated as MOTHERLAND- where women are deemed to be GODDESSES- violence against women is significantly atrocious.

Thus all over the religions Women are deemed to be Goddesses. It is indeed highly repugnant an demeaning to think of violence against women and girls.
Probably even if a frivolous complaint of crime against woman is received or heard , worst possible punishment is given-that will act as a deterrent against this scourge.
On this day of INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN let right thinking and noble people all over the world think seriously of this menace and make all out efforts to save our worthy sisters from undergoing this torture. A decent and cultured society should not tolerate crime and violence against women in any measure.
There cannot be a WO(MAN) without a Man and a MAN without a (WO)Man, let us realize the purpose of creation by the Almighty and maintain the WOMANHOOD in tact.
Some one was wondering whether these writings in ENVIUS THOUGHTS any impact- social or personal – at all! One replied that he teaches his children at home every day something new based on Envius Thoughts! I was so delighted and resolved to continue to continue as long as mind and body cooperate! That the overall view score of the Blog is quite positive in the sense average is about 75 a day gives me inspiration to continue despite age and attendant disability of the mind and body. God is Great and I totally believe in HIS grace and blessings.
Thus we end this serene Sunday story and till we meet on Monday may God be with you.
