Initiation

Borderless,
dreamy image
of a cypress in meditation,
feathery touch
of fingers and breaths
experienced,
heavenly sounds
and in your eyes,
in your teardrop,
I want to discover
the inconceivable
and cryptic
initiation of time.

Following is her preamble for her new literary venture. There has been a great flow of support from East and West, North and South of our great Motherland India that is Bharath  having a lot of love for literature!

Hello to all! 🙏🏽🌷
This group has been started with the only intention of spreading love for literature. Writers from all over India are welcome, here. The writer can share their thoughts/writings in any Indian language( with English translation ) or English. All are welcome.

The only IDEOLOGY here is LITERATURE. Only LITERATURE can be discussed here and nothing else.🍀✌
Non-controversial general messages of value may also be shared, here. 🙏🏽

Here is her self introduction:

Namaste! 🙏🏽Now, let me introduce myself. I am Dr.S.Padmapriya. I hold a Ph.D. degree but not in Literature! Literature is my passion.
I started writing poems in English at the tender age of seven. I have three poetry collections, one short story collection and one novel (literary fiction) to my credit.

My website is dr-s-padmapriya.com

It is indeed a matter of great delight and satisfaction to Dr. Padmapriya, competent chairman  of the group that within  forty eight hour of the formation, more than hundred members all (unlike me a small time poet, writer having just 40 books published) are great poets, writers, professional academicians – Professors and literary researchers!

Views may come and views may go, but as a Blogger I go on as long as my health and mind cooperate!

Thanks

We shall meet as usual tomorrow morning.Till then Bye!

Maithreem Bhajata is a benediction composed in Sanskrit by  Jagadguru Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati-Paramacharya
The song was set to a Ragamalika by composer Shri Vasant Desai.
Rendered at the United Nations on Oct. Twenty Third Nineteen Sixty Six,  On the  UN day, by Bharat Ratna Smt. M. S. Subbulakshmi.

Vasant Desai went back home on Twenty Second December Seventy Five After a  day long  recording of a special musical programme at HMV Studios In praise of Indira Gandhi. He stepped into the elevator of his apartment Building and  the lift began to move, crushing him to death.

Yet he lives in his creative compositions and will live for ever sans death!.

Esteemed viewers of ENVIUS THOUGHTS, I am sure would have made out why and how this week’s Sunday story!!!!!!!!!!!
The above is a chat with one of my closest co residents of my great mini ‘Baratha Vilasam colony’ Jeevan Bima Nagar, promoted by Life Insurance Corporation of India, my Alma master- with 944 flats for the policyholders of LIC, of whom I am also one notwithstanding the fact that I have served for more than four decades this mammoth Organization in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu etc.! Mr. Suresh Mathew my close friend has gone to US on an official work and caught up there thanks to ALL POWERFUL CORONA!

There are so many “isms” in the world and one is GANDHISM and one who follows Gandhism in thoughts, words and deeds honestly and faithfully can be deemed to be a Gandhian! Let us go a little deeper to find an answer to the question that the TITLE OF THE SUN DAY STORY poses!

Gandhism is a body of ideas that describes the inspiration, vision, and the life work of Mohandas Gandhi. It is particularly associated with his contributions to the idea of nonviolent resistance, sometimes also called civil resistance. The two pillars of Gandhism are truth and non-violence.
The term “Gandhism” also encompasses what Gandhi’s ideas, words, and actions mean to people around the world and how they used them for guidance in building their own future. Gandhism also permeates into the realm of the individual human being, non-political and non-social. A Gandhian can mean either an individual who follows, or a specific philosophy which is attributed to, Gandhism.
However, Gandhi did not approve of the term ‘Gandhism’. As he explained:

“There is no such thing as “Gandhism” and I do not want to leave any sect after me. I do not claim to have originated any new principle or doctrine. I have simply tried in my own way to apply the eternal truths to our daily life and problems…The opinions I have formed and the conclusions I have arrived at are not final. I may change them tomorrow. I have nothing new to teach the world. Truth and non-violence are as old as the hills.”

In the absence of a “Gandhism” approved by Gandhi himself, there is a school of thought that one has to derive what Gandhism stands for, from his life and works. One such deduction is a philosophy based on “truth” and “non-violence” in the following sense. First, we should acknowledge and accept the truth that people are different at all levels (“truth”). Second, that one should never resort to violence to settle inherent differences between human beings at any level: from between two people to two nations to two races or two religions (“non-violence”).
Simplicity in life and living and nobility in thoughts, words and deeds are sin qua non.
Khadhi dress –kadhar- is just a symbol and wearing kadhar dress alone cannot be deemed to be simple and Gandhian! From this standard there are thousands and thousands of Gandhians in India and in that case India should be the NOBLEST NATION in the world!
Gandhiji’s autobiography “MY EXPEREIMENTS WITH TRUTH “ is indeed  a great epic!
Here are his views on his cherished principles of TRUTH and NON-VIOLENCE:
TRUTH AND NONVIOLENCE are  the two key ingredients of Gandhian thought. It is not possible to pursue one without the other.  .Word “truth” denotes the “right” thing to do in a morally charged situation. Mahatma Gandhi was fond of quoting the following statement from Confucius: “To know what is right and not to do it is cowardice.”
It may be possible to pursue both truth without regard to nonviolence, and nonviolence without regard to truth.  The pursuit of truth on its own makes us self-righteous. Similarly, nonviolence pursued on its own, uncoupled with truth, could simply be used as a cover to countenance passivity, even cowardice, and degenerate into a form of self-indulgence – just as truth on its own could degenerate into a form of self-righteousness.
If the two-truth and ahimsa-are to be pursued simultaneously, then the question  arises- what is the relationship between the two? The following passage from the writings of Mahatma Gandhi offers a clue to his position on the matter:
It is perhaps clear from the foregoing, that without ahimsa it is not possible to seek and find Truth. Ahimsa and Truth are so intertwined that it is practically impossible to disentangle and separate them. They are like the two sides of a coin, or rather of a smooth unstamped metallic are like the two sides of a coin, or rather of a smooth unstamped metallic disc. Who can say, which is the obverse, and which is the reverse? Nevertheless ahimsa is the means; Truth is the end.  When once we have grasped this point, final victory is beyond question. Whatever difficulties we encounter, whatever apparent reverses we sustain, we may not give up the quest for Truth which alone is, being God Himself (M. K. Gandhi, Hindu Dharma (Ahmedabad : Thus for Mahatma Gandhi nonviolence is the means, and truth, or God, is the end.

This relationship of the two is also capable of being looked at in new light from within an essentially Gandhian framework.

. It seems, however, that there are good reasons for arguing, from a Gandhian perspective, that such a proclamation should be nonviolent. Mahatma Gandhi insisted that human beings are necessarily an imperfect channel for the respective of God’s revelation. This fact means that they could go wrong in some way in speaking for God. So if in disseminating God’s message they turned out to be wrong but proclaimed it in a nonviolent way, then they would have caused minimum harm. And if they turn out to be right – then all power to them.
Is this the reason why crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus in Christianity are companion events?.

This apart,
I distinctly remember on the assassination day of Gandhiji, at age 7, I was  having fever and I refused to take porridge and slept weeping.
My conviction on truth and non- violence NIL? If someone takes a staff and asks me the question, if I say yes, and is likely to beat me I shall say NO NO NO!

That type of Gandhian I am!

It is unfortunate that the present Center proposes to build a temple for that criminal Godse and publish his books. What a shame!
Secularism-yes I subscribe. ISHVAR ALLAH THAERAE NAM SABKO SANMATHI DHE BHAGWAN- Ragupathi Raghava Raja Ram was Gandhiji’s pet song.   I also love it.

I go to temple, stand for a minute in front of any mosque, or Church when I pass through by walk. And think when I cross by other modes. To some extent I don’t indulge in uttering lies with knowledge.

To conclude the Sunday Story –“EMPHATIC NO “ is THE answer to Mr Eapen of US and my dear friend Suresh Mathew at the moment caught up in US!

We shall meet as usual tomorrow and till then BYE!

SOKA GAKKAI DAY-May 3rd.

Soka Gakkai International (SGI)

SOKA GAKKAI INTERNATIONAL

Welcome to kwameyamoah's Blog: Dr. Dr. Daisaku Ikeda- President ...

DR. DAISAKU IKEDA

SOKA GAKKAI DAY

A very important day in my life too thanks to the great friendship that was handed over to me more than a decade ago by the then President of the International Poetry Society- Dr. Krishna Srinivas of Chennai who presented Dr. Sethukumanan, a poet, a great educationist, devotee of Japanese stalwart poet DR. Daisaku Ikeda . That in fact prompted this week’s Sunday Story on 1924th day of Envius Thoughts. In fact two posts are already there in this connection in the Blog.

Peaceful world, harmonious society
Sure heaven on earth invoking piety
Peace and joy, values and morals its crown
Saints, seers and prophets to us handed down!

Where is peace and where is harmony smart
Gifted boon from the God, where do they start?

Where there is no nasty hatred and greed
Where the mind is free from fear and weed
Where there is no malaise and violence
Where there is no ego and arrogance
Where there is no anger and jealousy
Sure there is peace and poise, fine harmony!

Religions teach me to spread love and peace
Little I care for what they teach with ease!

Who can bring this here and now, pure and sure?
What can bring this nectar to more and more?
Noble poets with wisdom and passion
Poetry with vision and devotion!

Krishna and Buddha, Jesus and Prophet
Gave message of love and peace to trumpet!
Lincoln, Gandhi, Mandela and many
Did trumpet to follow with dignity!

Through the noble wings of poetry pure
Tagore and (Dr.) Krishna won our hearts sure!
Daisaku, great apostle of world peace
Five decades and more, efforts not to cease
To serve the Poetry World with deep ease
God bless him with hundred years with grace!
(Poem presented by me at the Poets Meet organized by the World Poetry Society Intercontinental on the occasion of felicitating Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, for his fifty years of successful completion as President of the Soka Gakkai International.

Dr. Daisaku Ikeda is a Buddhist Philosopher, Peace builder and Educator.)

This occasion made my friendship with Dr. Sethukumanan become stronger and long lasting. Dr. Kumanan published my translation of Dr. Ikeda’s Japanese poems into Tamil through English. It was titled THANNEER ISAI”.

One of Dr. Sethukumanan’s educational institutions is SOKA GAKKAI IKEDA’S COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCINCE FOR WOMEN. A delegation of Spanish Poets visited this college and on that occasion I also enjoyed the hospitality of the students and staff of the college under the leadership of the President Dr. Sethukumanan.

Let us have a peep into the life and services of the great Japanese giant Dr. Ikeda.
May 3 is known as “Soka Gakkai Day.” It was on May 3, 1951, that Josei Toda was inaugurated as the second president of the Soka Gakkai, and on May 3, 1960, that Daisaku Ikeda became the third president. May 3 is also “Soka Gakkai Mother’s Day,” symbolizing the vital role that women play within the organization.

Josei Toda became second president at a time when there were only around 3,000 Soka Gakkai members in Japan, seven years after the passing of first president Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, who died in prison for his beliefs during World War II.
Ikeda recalls that on that day, Toda announced his goal of achieving a membership of 750,000 households during his lifetime. He comments, “This was a soaring pledge to accomplish kosen-rufu (world peace through the spread of Nichiren Buddhism). The goal he announced was truly staggering. But I was overjoyed. Courage surged through me. My mentor, incomparable leader of kosen-rufu, had finally resolved to stand at the helm as president.”

The Significance of March 16
March 16 is a symbolic day for Soka Gakkai members, commemorating the occasion on March 16, 1958, when Josei Toda, second president of the Soka Gakkai, then in fra…Toda’s passionate efforts to realize this vision inspired hundreds of thousands of people throughout Japan to join Soka Gakkai over the next few years and eventually laid the path for Nichiren Buddhism to gain a following around the world.

In May 1960, two years after Toda’s death, Ikeda, only 32 years old, was inaugurated as the third president of the Soka Gakkai. Under his leadership, the movement began an era of innovation and expansion, becoming actively engaged in cultural and educational endeavors worldwide. Ikeda has continued to dedicate himself to fulfilling Toda’s dreams by developing initiatives in the areas of peace, culture and education. He has described May 3 as “a day to embark afresh on our struggle for world peace and the happiness of humanity.”

Toda had always emphasized the importance of the role of women in spearheading the organization’s development, and Ikeda also recognized that Soka Gakkai’s growth was largely due to the efforts of the women members—the “mothers of kosen-rufu.”

On April 27, 1988, at the first national Soka Gakkai Women’s Division meeting held in Tokyo, Ikeda therefore proposed that May 3 also be designated “Soka Gakkai Mother’s Day” in the spirit of appreciation for the sincere efforts of the women members.
Rightly Dr. Sethukumanan has chosen to provide education to teen ageds at the school and college levels.

Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women is named after a renowned Japanese poet and Buddhist philosopher Dr. Daisaku Ikeda and Soka Education System, which stresses on moral building. Dr. Daisaku Ikeda is the Honorary Founder and Mrs. Kaneko Ikeda is the Honorary Principal of the college.

Having emerged as a pioneer institution, in its neighborhood, the college offers humanistic education. “The Institution of Excellence” award given by the Indian Council of Gandhian Studies, New Delhi adds glory to the success saga of the institution. April 29th- International Dance Day

Lord Shiva as Nataraja

To me DANCE is DIVINE- the Lord Nataraja is the LORD OF DANCE!
May be Bharatha Natya, kathakkali, kuchipudi and similar arts!
Unfortunate today’s dances are just physical not spiritual, artistic
Not appealing to the senses and spirit -appeals only to body!

Today Twenty Ninth April is International Dance Day  a global
Celebration of dance, created by the Dance Committee of the
IInternational Theatre Institute,  partner for the performing arts
Of UNESCO. The  anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre
The creator of modern ballet. day is to encourage participation
And education in dance through events and festivals held  all over the world.

Ancient art is dance- a great culture built it
Modern and medieval, eastern and western hit
In India revered as -natya kala -divinity
Lord Shiva in HIS dance- a part of trinity!

WORLD BOOK DAY! April 23rd.

World Book Day | Teaching Resources

World BOOK Day is this day-Twenty Third April-Are you able to hear
Many  mocking  derisively at the books and readers who find pleasure?
These people know  not how to spend time usefully and worthwhile!
Books provide knowledge to all- I  am not concerned I have other sources!!!

Unfortunately placed is our society today
Where book culture has become culture of yesterday
Fast moving times deny the habit of reading
No time to stand and stare at the great books for enjoying!

Writers regret, publishers find it hard to go ahead
Despite Book fairs increasing and sales soaring above head
Habit of reading by youngsters declining fast and strong
Make our system change, parents aware of their wards!

Days of the ebooks are, we are aware and welcome too
World is worried on the decline of book culture as such
Bless us my God! Restore the noble culture in all
Writers to serve, publishers to prosper, and society stand tall!
