Yes this week\s Sunday Story (2029th post) is on WORLD FATHERS DAY! ENVIUS THOUGHTS carried a Sunday story on Mothers Day on 16th May last month which was received overwhelmingly by our esteemed viewers and a few also suggested a post on FATHERS DAY and the effect is today’s Sunday story on FATHERS DAY!
MOTHER IS GOD!
India –sacred land worships one’s mother as
FIRST GOD! They say MATHA, PITHA, GURU, DHEYVAM-First in the priority for respect and reverence, love and affection is MOTHER followed by FATHER, third GURU (Teacher) and FINALLY DHEIVAM that is GOD! Probably because of this we call our country as MOTHER INDIA!
Today Twenty First June being FATHERS DAY, it is apt to have this week’s Sunday Story on that head. 2029th post on the 1973rd day of the Blog!
Fathers Day is a day for many people to show their appreciation towards fathers and father figures worldwide.Events and observations associated with this day is to show our respect and love for father by presenting some gifts- what he likes most if the individual is fortunate enough to have.
Father’s Day is celebrated worldwide to recognize the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children. This day celebrates fatherhood and male parenting. Although it is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, many countries observe this day on the third Sunday in June.
Father’s Day 2020: The third Sunday of June is celebrated as Father’s Day in most parts of the world. Father’s Day is a celebration of fathers, honoring fatherhood, paternal bonds and the role fathers play in society.
Father’s day was first proposed in 1909 to complement Mother’s Day celebrations.
The third Sunday of June is celebrated as Father’s Day in most parts of the world. Father’s Day is a celebration of fathers, honoring fatherhood, paternal bonds and the role fathers play in society. This day was first proposed in 1909 to complement Mother’s Day celebrations.
Significance
On this day children acknowledge and appreciate their fathers and father figures, who play an important role in their lives, be it emotionally, mentally or even financially. On this day children understand the importance of the role of a father in one’s life. This day acknowledges the contribution of fathers to their own families and society at large. Children buy or make presents for their father or father-like figure, write and draw cards, spend the day engaging in activities that can be enjoyed with one’s father, be it hiking, fishing or just sitting around watching some television. In India especially, most kids have a closer bond with their mothers, so this day definitely helps forge a closer relation with one’s dad.
While India follows the US, and celebrates Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June every year, in other countries including Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Father’s Day is celebrated on March 19. And even though this is a Western tradition started in the United States of America, it has gained a lot of prominence in India in the past many years.
History
The day was founded in USA, where it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, at the Spokane, Washington YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd. That year, Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910. Sonora heard about how Anna Jarvis had founded Mother’s Day in honor of her mother and told the pastor of her Church that there should be something similar to celebrate fathers too. Sonora’s father was Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, a single parent from Arkansas who raised six children. Sonora was hoping that Father’s Day celebrations would be held on June 5, which was her father’s birthday, but the Church’s time constraints ended up pushing this day and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June.
My father – one of the most loved and respected teachers/Headmasters who died at the age of 87 in the year 1987 served lived in Karaikudi and spent his retired life in Thanjavur. Highly principled and what he preached, he practiced. He brought up his three sons including me in a way that stand up in good stead even today when I have just stepped into my EIGHTY! Whether it is taking walks in the very early mornings and evenings or visiting temples every day twice, reading, writing, loving all and helping all and hurting none and so on, I am regularly following the guidelines given by my beloved father till his death.
Fathers’ Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.
