Today’s Twenties are tomorrow’s Forties, day after tomorrow’s
Sixties! Sixties and above designated as ELDER! None living
Can avoid being an ELDER and the attendant abuse sure
Better to be aware and prepare to protect- simple and pure!
Abuse by the youngsters at home, youngsters outside both are possible
Abuse by nature -health problems a source of abuse horrible!
In Tamil it is said: முற்பகல் செய்யின் பிற்பகல் விளையும்”
Whatever we do earlier, we shall reap it later! Let us not abuse
Elders when we are young! We shall suffer as we become elders!
Not only let us not abuse elders, but go all out to be of use and help!
Elders suffering on the road, let us rush to be of use and assistance
A way indeed to show our respect for elders known or unknown!
Rightly said, my Lord, blood is always thicker than water
Blood in red- has life and love, health and joy all that matter!
Blood less body, awaits transfusion or exit from earth
Bloodless war brought us freedom from the foreign yoke with mirth!
Blood donation and donor are doubly blessed- patient too
Life saving through blood donation voluntary to woo
The healthy and generous, blood and broad minded to help
The sufferers with love-seeking love in return valued wealth!
Theme for this year’s World Blood Donor Day is
“Safe blood saves lives” with the slogan “Give blood and make the world a healthier place”. Indeed noble theme and message!
“Thank you for saving my life” says all those in need indeed!
“Give freely; give often, Blood donation matters all over
Strong and healthy need have no fear-God has given power!
Good Samaritan donors to continue frequently
Newer ones to start sans fear and worry quite timely
That saves the needy- known-unknown, good-bad, rich or poor sure
Group that matters and nothing else, my heart and soul quite pure!

Mid Nineteen Fifties during which period I was a boy scout
In Sivaji Troop- patrol Leader and Troop Leader in about
Seven years – respected by student friends and admired by teachers!
When in uniform with a prestigious scarf felt as if in Army serving the Nation
Days in the Movement turned to be days with great passion!
Squirrel indeed one of the cutest creations of the Almighty
Moving fast and jumping here and there nice- very casually
Won the heart of lord Rama by helping in its own way
Earning three permanent stripes on the back sings this way!
Oh, my Lord, the Almighty among your million creations
A creature tiny I am, yet proud of my birth –admiration
Showered on me by Lord Rama whose fingers three fondled
On my back for the little service rendered for making the bridge!
Trees of all sizes and shapes, house tops big and small make my home
At will, with ease and peace, joy and poise, I jump here and there roam
Sing in praise of the Lord and His creations, eat sweet fruits and nuts
To my heart’s content right from the trees and plants with strong guts!
Blessed with voice melodious, I make others enjoy my songs
Young and old, healthy and the sick, one and all like my voice
I served the Lord along with men and monkeys to build the bridge
May you my friends, build bridges of love and friendship with all to live!
On this happy squirrel appreciation day twenty first January
Let us learn a lesson or two from the squirrels’ life to follow
Help others- solicited or not- in a measure very small or otherwise
Helping ever and hurting never as our motto in life very wise~!

To make purchases of whatever they need at more or less half the rate!
Budget bound poor and middle class people are everywhere desiring
Purchase of furniture or utensils, books or shelves, fridge or ACs
At the concessional rates in those thrift shops- not compromising
Quality or color of our choice -great opportunities sure and pure
