One of the highlights of the CPC Annual Seminar is the release of the Anthology EFFLORESCENCE and this year it was 19th.

My following poem that finds a place in the Anthology reflects my views on this:

WELCOME TWENTY, WELCOME NINETEEN
Welcome Two Thousand Twenty-as developed India
Envisaged by the Scientist President Dr. Kalam
Love, service, peace, joy, compassion all bring in a plenty
Collectively everyone to strive to reach that goal
Opportunities unlimited gifted by Nature
Mankind to live in peace and amity everywhere
Everlasting peace and plenty society’s needs quite sure!

Twenty years in the current century great indeed
We the proud poets of India Poetry Center
Eagerly expect to give the best in this happy world
Nice honor to be a part of this organization
Totally wedded to peace and harmony amidst all
Yes! God is sure to bless all of us –duty bound poets!

Welcome to Efflorescence Nineteen-anthology nice
Encouraging all poets young and old, publishing their poems

Completed many anthologies to the joy of all
Over to the poets fraternity from all over the Nation!
Members overjoyed at the Efflorescence and the Meet
Eagerly looking forward year after year treat!

Never I am give in to dishonesty and falsehood
Intelligence means not wisdom that comes out of one’s age
None to be blamed for one’s faults and foolishness be careful
Efflorescence blossoms into flowers spreading fragrance
That drives away all negativities in the readers
Ever fresh poems that give peace to the readers all times
Enthusiasm and encouragement poets enjoy
Nineteen and Twenty great numbers inspiring all of us!

P S: An acrostic poem every line having 14 syllables.

A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out;
Yeah…the one who will always after the death of your parents or spouse;
Every girl has a great friend and every girl’s friendship is always put to an end;
Every boy has a nice friend and every boy’s friendship always extend;
Friend makes us happier and stronger;
True friend makes our positive thinking into goal;
Friends are our strength always to live a peaceful life.

Dear Mr.Kannan,
It was a fruitful experience, taking part in the CPC event, and meeting many beautiful creative minds. Felt very happy, and blessed to be a part of it.
Much grateful to you, Jairam Seshadri Sir, Hema Ravi Ma’m, and to the entire team for organising and making this event a memorable one for all.
Being my first time at the CPC event, felt very happy to meet so many poets; inspired by the Kaleidoscope of thoughts and emotions flowing through words from each one of them.
The chief guests’ speech too were interesting, and thought-provoking.
Wishing each and everyone in the CPC family, many many journeys of sowing poetry in the universe…

Anthology ‘Efflorescence 2018′ released at Chennai Poets’ Circle seminar
Posted on January 21, 2019 by NT Bureau

Chennai: Age is no bar for creativity: You would not think this is a tired cliche if you had attended the annual seminar of Chennai Poets’ Circle (CPC) on Sunday, 20 January, at the World University Service Centre, Chetpet. The highlight of this year’s seminar was the contribution of poets aged 11 years to 87 years.
The CPC is a non-profit, non-sectarian, literary body of academicians, professionals, students and homemakers interested in poetry writing in English, and sharing such creativity with like-minded personalities; over the years, the CPC has spread its wings nationally and internationally.
The local members of CPC meet once a month to recite and discuss poetic views. At the annual seminar, distinguished guest speakers share their views on poetry, member-poets present academic papers on Indian English writing and recite their poems in front of a distinguished gathering of poets, special invitees and the public. Amateur guest poets are encouraged to recite their poems.
During the seminar on Sunday, the anthology ‘Efflorescence 2018’, a collection of poems written by its members, was released.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr C N Srinath, director, Dhvanyaloka Centre for Indian Studies, Mysuru, and the guest of honour was Dr V Rajagopalan, retired HOD, English, MCC College, Chennai.
Dr Thirumeni, chairman, welcomed the gathering, and Dr Kannan traced the achievements of the CPC in the last few years. Hema Ravi, secretary, anchored the poetry reading session in the forenoon, while Jairam Seshadri compered the proceedings in the afternoon session.
The paper presentations were chaired by Dr T V Reddy, Dr Biplab Chakraborty and Dr Kannan. Sharing their erudition with the audience, the speakers spoke about the contribution of great poets, emphasising that the poet is a ‘seer’ and poetry is the encounter with the impossible.
Quoting a renowned poet, one of the speakers said, “Like a piece of ice on a hot stove, the poem must ride on its own melting.” The role of poets in ‘digital detoxification’ was also stressed upon.
The highlight of this year’s seminar was the contribution of poets aged 11 years to 87 years and paper presentations by academicians from Sastra University. Eminent writer, poet and media personality, Andal Priyadarshini, who has been awarded the Kalaimamani award by the Tamilnadu government, was among the audience as a contributing poet.
Poets had come from Tirupati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Puducherry and Tiruchi. Two budding poets, aged seven and ten, wards of member-poets recited their verses confidently in front of the gathering.

I am sure my esteemed viewers have received a fairly a good report on the event.

The said Anthology carries the following Poems by me and Miss. S Nivetha one of the EIGHT young poets who contributed their creations to the Anthology.
Dr. V. Rajagopalan, Guest of Honor who was the Principal and Head of the English Department quoted a few lines from the Book FLY,FLY,FLY published by S > NIVETHA (released in the last Seminar in 2018) and commended the imagination and expression of the young poet and wished her every success.
Following is Nivetha’s poem in the Anthology released on this occasion:
CHENNAI POETS’ CIRCLE

Chennai Chennai Poets’ Circle my literary home
Heartily I pray for its noble service-dome!
Elder poets are there to guide me ever nice
Naturally it is my literary home twice
Never can I leave my noble home I enjoy
Advising me how to write poetry with joy
Influenced me a lot in my thoughts and words!

Poetry, the soul of my family members
Offers opportunities for the young ones too
Ever I will remain grateful to my elders
Thanking them for all their kindness shown to me
Several great minds and hearts are there to help and guide!

Circle with long radius has lot of members
In Chennai and outside-deem it as a prestige
Reading and writing poems of their choice willing
Caring the young ones like me giving good training
Lot of opportunities to present in meets
Every month which I am not able to avail.

Members discuss art and science of writing poems
Young ones can learn a lot from the experienced.

Literary talents I would like to develop
Inside my home with others to guide
Trained poet can be more effective than others
Enthusiasm injected by all members
Remember I will- all through my life happily
Along with others I also write usefully
Rectification of any error-I get
Yearly once the Anthology blossoms bright!

Home is where I get food for literary thought
Opportunities provided by my beloved home
Many more I have to try and create shortly
Ever increasing thirst I have for poetry!

An acrostic poem –“CHENNAI POETS’ CIRCLE –MY LITERARY HOME”.

My poem published in the EFFLORESCENCE 2018

TIRUKKURAL
GLORY OF GOD

1. “A” leads the language
The Lord Almighty protects
Like peacock’s plumage!
2. Learning lacks meaning
If the learner believes not
In Him – protecting!
3 He surely lives long
Who seeks the feet of the Lord
To whom the noble throng!
4. To the one who clings
To HIM beyond likes-dislikes
No woes the life brings!
5. Who sings in HIS praise
Seeking HIS love and grace
Freed from the sins nice!
6. For long he lives for sure
Who treads HIS path sans desires
In this world – pure!
7. Who seeks not HIM whose
Compassion beyond compare
Never free from worry’s woes!
8. He can’t cross the sea
Of sins if he thinks not HIM
Indeed Virtues Sea!
9. Those heads that pray not
The God of eight virtues sure
Have eyes and ears just dot(s)!
10. Those who pray the Lord
Nicely cross the sea of birth
Others don’t – face woes!

These ten couplets are my translation of the Magnum Opus Thirukkural by Thiruvalluvar written about 2000 years ago in Tamil into English. The chapter 1 of the 133, speaks about the Glory of God.

Days rolled down fast and September 20th came and we boarded the Chennai -Vijayawada Shadapti Express and we were at Guntur by 13.30 hrs to be warmly  received by the Organizers and we were guided to a nice Hotel NANDURI RESIDENCY in Arundalepet.

About five hundred poets from more than 50 countries attended the Festival.

On 21st the session was devoted to Telugu poets. About 150 poets presented their Telugu poems. I also presented a Telugu poem titled “GEYANIKI REKKALU”- WINGS OF POESY English version is given below:

THROUGH THE WINGS OF POETRY

Oh! My beloved Mother Earth
Can you bless me with your hand

Verdant, fertile acre of land
Far from the madding crowd
Near the hillock and make me proud!
A well with sweet and copious water
A hut to protect from  Sun 0 a shelter
Spreading fragrance – plenty of jasmine
Smearing beauty through silky sunflower
Nectar filled coconut trees around me
Green lush lawn a treat to see!
Blessed with understanding spouse
To pursue the path of virtuous
Through the WINGS OF POETRY!
Dawn to dusk serving the cause of Nature
Thanking you for all they grace!
Oh! My beloved Earth
Providing life to all His creation
How do I show my grateful affection
Sure through bringing peace and amity
Love and kindness
Words and deeds
All in sweetness
All through the Earth!
In the night of 21st, there was a very lively session for poems in vernacular. It was indeed a great experience. I on my part presented the following Tamil poem:

t

We salute and sing in his praise- good

Peace we hold and lead our lives.

Let us walk in the path of leaders great

Even sacrificing all, let us  protect peace!

Next two days were devoted to English poetry and about 300 poets presented their English poems and I presented the following:

GLOBAL PEACE AND WAR!

                                                                                                                                    0

Ambassadors of Peace-the assembled poets

From all over the world reading the Festival notes!

Global Peace well in the hands of Ambassadors of Peace

On the pressures we exert on the powers itching with ease!

Ages and ages have seen War and Peace in turn

In times of war world thinks of peace

In times of peace world plans for war!

It’s the war that brings the best in man

All that leaves when the peace is in!

It is the war that keeps the nation united

And keeps the forces at bay that divided!

Lo! Paradox of war and peace!

Love and peace  voice of the world

What we see in this mad,mad world

Going hellward with nuclear mould

Seeking superiority with deadly hold!

Voice of war that was hot and loud

Sure should yield to the voice of peace

With fragrance of love all over the cloud

Bringing rain of joy and plenty ll with ease!

Goodbye to the miseries of the past

Welcome to the mysteries of the future!

Unfolding universal peace and warless world

Unbroken joy and fearless nations

Healthy people and artistic minds

Endless love and deathless humanism!

Poetic disposition and and peaceful possession!

All we need on earth

All we have to work with mirth!

Incidentally I was the only poet to have presented poems in three languages viz Telugu, Tamil and English!

The following poem was presented by S.Nivetha:

WINGS OF FRIENDS

We cannot gather al in one place

To have a wonderful joy and peace

All our fast and great memories on

Like that of the fast, moving fan.

Miles and miles to go walking with friends

The distance of those miles never ends.

Full of pleasure in joyous WINGS OF FRIENDS

Seen in all shapes and colors of kinds!

Love of the friend cannot be got from all

That flows through Niagara falls.

God creates and gives us great friends sure

For us to keep all our lives quite pure!

All the delegates were accommodated in different Hotels, Guest Houses, rest houses and fine arrangements were made to bring them on time to the Venue viz  Jagarimudi Lakshmiah Choudary Auditorium, JKC College, Guntur. A spacious A/c Auditorium.

I think of those days millions of years ago sans the power of SPEECH
How communications could have taken place- body language alone -each
Individual human or animal would have its own method to convey
Thoughts and ideas! Communication should have been a fun as it looks today!

Man developed his method and languages began to flow like water falls
Seven Thousand and one hundred and more languages are there figures quite tall
Including spoken and signed languages-dialects not excluded
Great world, great people, great languages, great art of communication!

ENGLISH LANGUAGE DAY is today the twenty third of April- great language day
Most widely spoken and fastest spreading world language! It is English today
More than ninety eight crores of people speak as first and second language
Full of excellent works of literature – prose and verse-all over the world!

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Total 948 poems from 85 languages
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

That about 500 poets from India and overseas have contributed their poetic creations to this multilingual poetry anthology is a matter of pride and pleasure.

This is AMARAVATI POETIC PRISM THREE and within a short span of three years, it has come to be recognized as one of the largest and best poetry anthologies in the literary world that a poet feels highly honored when he/she finds that his/her poem is seen through this prestigious PRISM all over!

Both qualitatively and quantitatively the PRISM 2017 will be deemed as a prestigious possession in a poet’s home library though it costs
INR 1200 / US$ 50 / Euro 45. Layout and design are extraordinarily attractive. Content, theme and form are truly marvelous.
The tendency currently is to skip the messages and other introductory portion of any publication and get into the contents straight! But in this work the messages from HE Nara Chandrababu Naidu, CM AP, HE Mandali Buddhaprasad, Dy. Speaker AP, Her Excellency Bhanu Akila Priya, Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, S/Shri M K Meena, IAS, Dr. D. Vizai Bhaskar, Padma Vibhushan & Gnanpith Awardee Dr. Sitakant Mahapatra, Y.Harishchandra Prasad and Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy throw a fund of information and prove to be a very interesting read.
Multilingual Poets Meets do take place. To come across a multi linguist poet is heartening. In this Prism one can see such a highly reputed MULTI LINGUIST POET in Dr. Kumud Bala Mukherjee of Hyderabad who has contributed poems in TEN LANGUAGES namely Hindi, Bengali, Sanskrit, Bhojpuri, Maithili, Awadhi, Braj Bhasha, Kaithi, Kandu & Dakhini (Deccan) Hindi to Amaravati Poetic Prism 2017.

Poet Dr. Kumud Bala, a Botany & Hindi Lecturer by profession, has been penning poetry for about 4 decades now. Writing has been her passion since childhood and her forte lies in poetry, stories, essays, research papers and more. Her works have been published in several newspapers, magazines and journals. With over 5000 poems to her credit, she participates regularly in Kavi Sammelans organized at the National and International level. With a D. Litt Award from Nagpur Jyotiba Phule University & Research Centre, A Best Poet Award from the Late President Shankar Dayal Sharma, and Saahitya Saagar Samman at the World Book Fair 2017, New Delhi to her credit, she is regularly sought for her work by leading publication and Media houses.
ENVIUS THOUGHTS takes the greatest pleasure in heartily congratulating Dr. Kumud Bala.

It is our proud privilege that Prism Two and Prism Three show a glimpse of our poems. Our contributions for Prism Three are just reproduced here for the read of my esteemed viewers of my Blog ENVIUS THOUGHTS in https://nvsr.wordpress.com, who have already honored me with 1, 15, 000 views and more from 210 countries:

My English poem in page 893 of the PRISM:

FORESTS N. V. Subbaraman

Forests indeed are the wealthiest gifts of Nature
To be kept safe and sound in the world sure for future
Home of animals wild and mild, birds-lovely and smart
For the people all over to enjoy from the start!

Useful to the humans and animals for food and all
Needs of all the living beings throughout quite tall
Creating and readying Rain God to bless the world
With rains copious and plenty since the ages old!

Deforestation the most cruel and heinous act
Indulged by the man quite avaricious in fact!
Society to ensure aforestation efforts
Initiated by the right minded succeed fast!

Great forestation the mankind’s only hope- sure
To make our lives quite healthy and happy – very pure
Here and there all over the globe be taken care of
To achieve the purpose of the creation of the Lord!

Uninhabited lands are in acres million
Efforts be made to make them convenient trillion
Nothing is there in the vast world unachievable
Success is wrought with hard work and mind- practicable!

MY Tamil Poem on Page 434 of the Prism

சுமையா? சுமைதாங்கியா? என்விசுப்பராமன்
இறைவன்தந்தஇவ்வாழ்வை
இனிதாய்வாழும்வழிஎன்ன?
இறைவாஅதனைக்காட்டிடுவாய்
தலைவாஎம்மைப்பணித்திடுவாய்!.
சுமையாய்வாழ்வதில்அழகுண்டோ?
சுமைதாங்கியாய்வாழ்வதில்அருளுண்டே.!

அமைதிபெருகும்வாழ்வாய்அதனை
அமைந்திடவேநான்வேண்டுகிறேன்!
சுமையாய்இருப்பதில்பயனில்லை.-நிலச்
சுமையாய்வாழ்வதில்பொருளில்லை!
’சுமைதாங்கி’க்குலகில்இணையில்லை.
வாழ்ந்தால்வாழ்வில்சுமைதாங்கி!

இருந்தால்உயர்ந்துஇமயத்தில்!
இல்லாவிட்டால்சுமையில்லை
வாணாள்முழுதும்சுமைதாங்கி
மறைந்துவிட்டால்சுமையில்லை!
இறைவாஎன்னைஇனிதாய்வாழ

Miss. Nivetha’s English poem on Page 783 of the Prism.i
SUN-THE GOD OF LIGHT AND POWERS. Nivetha

Sun- the God of Light and Power
Sans Thee there is no life on earth
Thee indeed stand at a tall tower
We enjoy you, your grace from birth.

Yet, dreaded season is summer
We know your offshoot is winter.
A hateful summer day started,
Making people themselves get sweated,

Juices and ice creams make stomach fresh,
Sitting under the shades of trees and bushes.
Watching the television in the houses,
In the A/C room moving the computer mouses!

Sitting for long, wasting time,
Writing poems and songs with rhyme,
Children hate you sun, you reduce our fun,
Everyone’s joy is reduced by ton.

Still you are the God of Light and Power
We pray you as we can be sans you never.
Be kind and compassionate, help us
To spend our summer with joy and ease!

About this poem: Here is a poem in praise of the SUN, yet the horror of summer also pointed out.

Poet’s Brief Profile:

“MAHAKAVI” ENTERED HEAVEN ON 11th SEPTEMBER

Poetry indeed is the index of the greatness of a language
Poets of all hues are the invaluable wealth of the language
There are many known and unknown in all languages and countries
MANA KAVI cannot be many and rarest among the poetsi

In Tamilnadu MAHAKAVI refers to the great national
Patriotic Poet who inspired and instilled patriotism
In all the people through his immortal poems-in journey to freedom
Subramaniya Bharathiyar entered HEAVEN on that holy day!

Scholar in languages several, learned and the one who loved
The country more than his Mother-injecting love in all who lived!
We salute the one who died almost a century ago whose songs
Are sung even today on all occasions-songs immortal! Man throngs!
