Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent Almighty has created

The earth to spread nobility, peace, joy and harmony and happiness!

Twenty Sixth August today is a holiday – the birth day MOTHER MARY THERESA Bojaxhiuide”born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu Albanian: Twenty Sixth August Nineteen Hundred and Ten and lived up to Fifth September Nineteen Ninety Seven  honored in the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary.

Born in Skopje present capital of North Macedonia, then part of the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. After living in Skopje for eighteen years,  Moved to Ireland and then to India, where she lived for  her life.

In Nineteen Fifty, Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation that had over four thousand nuns and  Active in more than hundred  countries.They manage homes for people who Are dying of HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis. They  run soup kitchens, Dispensaries, mobile clinics, children’s and family counselling programmes, And orphanages and schools. Members take vows of chastity, poverty, and Obedience, and also profess a fourth vow – to give “wholehearted free Service to the poorest of the poor.”

Teresa received  honors, like Ramon Magsaysay Peace Prize and  Nobel Peace Prize.  was canonized on Fourth September Two Thousand Sixteen,  Anniversary of her death Fifth September is her feast day.

PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE!

Yes this is  this week’s Sunday story ( 2103^rd post) on PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE with  tne various creations of the Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent Lord Almighty.  This was prompted by one Sri Sriram of our colony Jivan Bima Nagar promoted by the Life Insurance Corporation of India which I served for more than four decades where I learnt the art and science of life and living!
Mr. Sriram is a regular viewer of ENVIUS THOUGHTS and makes a review of his own motivating to write more and more!
This world is a WORLD OF PETS!
Our children are of most precious PETS!!!!! The world takes the meaning  of pets only to refer to a pet, or companion animal, is an animal kept primarily for a person’s company or entertainment rather than as a working animal, livestock or a laboratory animal. Popular pets are often considered to have attractive appearances, intelligence and relatable personalities, but some pets may be taken in on an altruistic basis (such as a stray animal) and accepted by the owner regardless of these characteristics.

Two of the most popular pets are dogs and cats; the technical term for a cat lover is an ailurophile and a dog lover a cynophile. Other animals commonly kept include: rabbits; ferrets; pigs; rodents, such as gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, rats, mice, and guinea pigs; avian pets, such as parrots, passerines and fowls; reptile pets, such as turtles, alligators, crocodiles, lizards, and snakes; aquatic pets, such as fish, freshwater and saltwater snails, amphibians like frogs and salamanders; and arthropod pets, such as tarantulas and hermit crabs. Small pets may be grouped together as pocket pets, while the equine and bovine group include the largest companion animals.

Pets provide their owners (or “guardians”) both physical and emotional benefits. Walking a dog can provide both the human and the dog with exercise, fresh air and social interaction. Pets can give companionship to people who are living alone or elderly adults who do not have adequate social interaction with other people. There is a medically approved class of therapy animals, mostly dogs or cats, that are brought to visit confined humans, such as children in hospitals or elders in nursing homes. Pet therapy utilizes trained animals and handlers to achieve specific physical, social, cognitive or emotional goals with patients.

People most commonly get pets for companionship, to protect a home or property or because of the perceived beauty or attractiveness of the animals. A 1994 Canadian study found that the most common reasons for not owning a pet were lack of ability to care for the pet when traveling (34.6%), lack of time (28.6%) and lack of suitable housing (28.3%), with dislike of pets being less common (19.6%). Some scholars, ethicists and animal rights organizations have raised concerns over keeping pets because of the lack of autonomy and the objectification of non-human animals.
Leaving this at this stage, in our colony there are a good number of stray dogs besides those that are maintained as pets by cynophiles!
These stray dogs are of course fed by kind hearted residents here and there and they sleep on the road corners, bark as they like, move from a place to another at a few meters away as if they have very important job there!
I am an early morning walker – as early as 3 to 4 in the morning within my colony! These dogs in the earlier days used to bark at me as I step out of my Block and in course of time they realized that I am a regular fellow and they not only stopped barking at me but also walking with me as if to guard me!
One of my hobbies is to sit at my balcony for a few hours and observe the movement of dogs chasing and barking and flying of crows cawing!) !
Unable to tolerate their barks in the nights, disturbing their sleep, they organized with Chennai Corporation dog vans to visit our colony and take away as many dogs away ! Here is a small description I made in the Whats App group of our 1000 flats strong and 4000 residents strong JIVAN BIMA COLONY which is well maintained and taken care of by the JEEVAN BIMA NAGAR FLAT OWNERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION (JBNFOWA).

Lot of discussion is on on the above subject. Yes it is unfortunate and a sort of nuisance. Our efforts to remove them with the help of Corporation and their DOG VAN are of not much avail. God has created them with great acumen and the moment they smell the van, they are not to be found anywhere!!!!

Probably PEACEFUL COEXISTANCE is only the way out.

Yes those who own or love dogs can observe certain regulations and restrictions so that others are not put to any inconveniences or discomfort. When I go for  my vry early morning walk, one or two bark at me and one or two keep guard of me and come for a walk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pet dogs are well taken care of by their owners and stray only to be controlled. After all DOGS are BAIRAVA SWAMI according to Hindu thought! Those who feed them can choose a closed place and dogs know when and where and they manage their feeding! Barking is their habit and who can help! They bark only when they see a stranger DOG or Man, whether DAY or NIGHT, FIRST GATE or FIFTH GATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let us practice to have a PEACEFUL CO EXISTENCE with yet another wonderful creation of the Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent!

This is the response of our senior member and leading Advocate Mr. C. Vijayakumar who is a lover of dogs: Love for pets & domestic animals are very fundamental for human survival. It is the duty of civic authorities/ Central, State Govts. to take all scientific measures to control the birth of stray animals and take them to shelters. It is the duty of owners of pets to maintain them and see that the environment is not spoiled.

 

 

I have seen a number of houses where pets like cats, dogs,  parrots, sparrows, cows and calves (not for milk vending) and so on are kept simply for  the sake of pleasure! Still delightful are those who keep SNAKE as pets. They are not snake charmers yet they keep!

Here is  my close poet friend- organizer of IPC -India Poetry Circle in Chennai -Mr. Jayaram Seshadri with his pet dog at home-beautiful is the dog.

A couple of days back I saw a beautiful dog and they have named it as DIRT and when asked, I was told that it was  taken from a dirty place when it was just a few days old!!! Now it can be displayed in a DOG SHOW- it looks so pretty!

PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE is needed today in the world with all pets and non- pet  birds and animals and thus maintain that peace and harmony with all creations of the Almighty!

Raksha Bandhan  means “bond of protection”! women and girls of all ages
Tie a talisman, ” Rakhi” around the wrists of their brothers as a symbol of
Protection. The men and boys gift their sisters money, new clothes, sweets.
Let us resolve on this holy day to protect WOMEN- incarnation of Goddess

Playing in the mud which elders desist and discourage children!
June Twenty Ninth is today observed as International Mud day!
In two thousand eight Gillian McAuliffe, Pedagogista and Founder of
Bold Park Community School in Perth, Australia, was at the World Forum
For Early Childhood Care and Education.  had a discussion with a colleague
From Nepal about the challenges children face when playing together in the Mud.
On the plane returning from the Forum, thought of the obstacles that Stand among
Children and their ability to enjoy the simple, natural act of Playing in mud.
Challenges –  preferences for cleanliness, lack of Access to “disposable”
Clothing that can be dirtied and proper cleaning Supplies, or dry,
Sandy geography not conducive to muddy conditions.

When she returned to school in Perth, she spoke to group of Young ones.
They, in turn, decided to fund to purchase clothing for Nepalese children,
And thus all play in the mud “together”.   raised Over one thousand pound,
Paid for new clothing for children in Bishnu, Nepal, where a Mud Day
Event was held for Panchkhal orphanage.

Now, every year on this day, children from all over the world celebrate
International Mud Day as a way to connect  joys of playing in the mud!

As mythology would have it Lord Krishna ate mud and got

Reprimanded by HIS mother Yashodha! Children like mud!!!!

Yes this week\s Sunday Story (2029th post) is on WORLD FATHERS DAY! The day was founded in USA, where it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, at the Spokane, Washington YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd. That year, Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910. Sonora heard about how Anna Jarvis had founded Mother’s Day in honor of her mother and told the pastor of her Church that there should be something similar to celebrate fathers too. Sonora’s father was Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, a single parent from Arkansas who raised six children. Sonora was hoping that Father’s Day celebrations would be held on June 5, which was her father’s birthday, but the Church’s time constraints ended up pushing this day and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June.

My father – one of the most loved and respected teachers/Headmasters who died at the age of 87 in the year 1987 served lived in Karaikudi and spent his retired life in Thanjavur. Highly principled and what he preached, he practiced. He brought up his three sons including me in a way that stand up in good stead even today when I have just stepped into my EIGHTY! Whether it is taking walks in the very early mornings and evenings or visiting temples every day twice, reading, writing, loving all and helping all and hurting none and so on, I am regularly following the guidelines given by my beloved father till his death.

 

 

Fathers’ Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.

In the hierarchy of Indian persons to be
Revered and respected “FATHER” stands next to the
MOTHER and before TEACHER and God! Great indeed is he

In the creation of God and the noble thoughts of the

Place of honor-the role he plays sacrificing his self
For his family-kith and kin-  great and noble self!

On this sacred day, let all pray, revere and respect

For their welfare- joy and peace, health and happiness ever
In their old age, take care-keeping them in old age home never!

June 15th- WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY

Today’s Twenties are tomorrow’s Forties, day after tomorrow’s
Sixties! Sixties and above designated as ELDER! None living
Can avoid being an ELDER and the attendant abuse sure
Better to be aware and prepare to protect- simple and pure!
Abuse by the youngsters at home, youngsters outside  both are possible
Abuse by nature -health problems a source of abuse horrible!

In Tamil it is said: முற்பகல் செய்யின் பிற்பகல் விளையும்”
Whatever we do earlier, we shall reap it later! Let us not abuse
Elders when we are young! We shall suffer  as we become elders!
Not only let us not abuse elders, but go all out to be of use and help!
Elders suffering on the road, let us rush to be of use and assistance
A way indeed to show our respect for elders known or unknown!

 

GLOBAL DAY OF PARENTS-June 1st.

 

June First is today-Global Day of Parents. Yes very holy day indeed!
In India that is Bharat our homeland parents are placed before
Teacher and God – Matha. Pitha, Guru, Dhaivam- mother,father
Teacher and God!What a noble tribute to our parents-nothing further!

The Global Day of Parents announced by the United Nations
General Assembly in Two thousand Twelve with a resolution  and
Honors parents throughout the world.  Day provides chance to
Appreciate all parents in all parts of the world for their selfless commitment to
Children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship.

Family has  responsibility for the nurturing and protection of children
And that children, for the full and harmonious development of their personality, Should grow up in a family  atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.
United nations or not, Indian culture injected this in our blood
And equally implies that children when grown up have to take care
Of parents in their old age!- NO OLD AGE HOME FOR PARENTS SURE!
Let us on this holy day resolve to follow our culture  with devotion!

WORLD OTTER DAY-May 30th

 

Wonderful indeed are the creations of  Omnipotent and Omniscient
Human and animal beings- animals including wild and mild,
Birds and flies, worms and viruses including CORONA now reigning
All are supposed to live in harmony and peace all over the earth!?!?

May thirtieth today is WORLD OTTER DAY!Otter an aquatic,furry
Fish eating animal. Let us join the many  around the world
And love otters and be dedicated to their conservation,
To raise awareness and ensure that more people know about  problems
That otters face.  The loss of habitat, illegal trade (fur and pets),
Being hunted, road death, pollution some of the challenges.
Thirteen species of otter  need our help.

A day designated by the International Otter Survival Fund
To raise awareness of their work protecting, conserving,
And caring for otters everywhere!
Every  year more people in more countries  involve themselves
In two thousand Eighteen World Otter Day was observed
In at least twenty six countries. Let us continue.

April 24th. PIGS IN A BLANKET DAY!

Omnipotent Almighty created world and society quite  interesting
In hundreds of lovely ways very much to enjoy and spread joy flourishing
In writing prose, in making verse, in playing games and in building words
In eating, in speaking, in cracking jokes and wits, in cakes baking!

Today twenty fourth of April – “PIGS-IN-A-BLANKET DAY”sounds funny
A day observed all over the world in a happy state of mind with family
And friends in the states of America, Canada and other parts – happily!
Just enjoying eating and eating- essential for any living being!

Celebrated across the world, referring to a variety
Of different dishes-sausages wrapped in biscuit or dough baked
Served as appetizer, as a breakfast, or any mealtime
Guests and hosts enjoy the “pigs”-with a few ingredients-nice time.!
