My beloved father N R Viswanathan
Father is father, Mother is Mother! Both are equally venerable, respectable, loveable and their blessings from here or from their heavenly abode to be solicited daily!
Today June 9th being FATHERS DAY, it was felt why not this Sunday story being the same and hence my esteemed viewers will know something about my FATHER who should be 118 years old now had he been alive!
In fact this Blog has carried some posts on him earlier long ago and let me recollect on this holy day.
MY BELOVED GOD-MY FATHER
Oh, my beloved God-my father revered and respected
It is years thirty today since you took your heavenly abode
I feel you are with me every minute now than when you were
Alive in flesh and blood till you were eighty seven clear.
In your life time you were a role model for many many
As a dutiful teacher, you won their hearts-with love worshiped they
For your love, knowledge, methods, discipline as a school Headmaster
Said they, “think of him, take exams, you score high”-treated as pastor.
Physically we are orphaned but you guide at every moment
From your heavenly home- you watch my morning walk and each movement
My habits and hobbies you taught me in my early days quite strong
I shall follow till my hundred -just years twenty four away along
Fathers’ Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.
In the hierarchy of Indian persons to be
Revered and respected “FATHER” stands next to the
MOTHER and before TEACHER and God! Great indeed is he
“Fathers’ day” observed all over the world on eighteenth right!
In the creation of God and the noble thoughts of the
Human beings-father and fatherhood have a special
Place of honor-the role he plays sacrificing himself
For his family-kith and kin- great and noble shelf!
On this sacred day, let all pray, revere and respect
Godly fathers-responsible for what they expect
For their welfare- joy and peace, health and happiness ever
In their old age, take care-keeping them in old age home never!
Yes, my beloved father Shri N R Viswanathan was serving as a teacher- HeadMaster in a place Karaikudi where I was born, brought up and educated. A great teacher, a noble person a beloved father he was.
Shortly I am going to participate in a Tamil Poets Meet to observe FATHER’S DAY and I quote below my tributes to my father in Tamil and its English translation.
My father was a great divine son
Who gave me knowledge and education
Who lived and completed his eighty seven years
Retained nothing for himself ever!
In Karaikudi he was a school Headmaster
Poor students were the apples of his eyes
English and Mathematics were his special subjects
If you take examinations thinking of him
High marks are assured so his students will say!
Discipline and strictness was his one side
Love and affection was his other side!
Punishment never with beating with his hands
To cane the students was his practice
Quarter, half and full canning was his habit!
Never a punishment more than full caning!
Designed my life so nice and beautiful
Getting up from sleep at five in the morning
Taking morning walk for an hour
Yogasanas for half an hour next
Cold water bath on all seasons
Prayer and then studies sincere
Old rice last nights rice morning breakfast
Going by walk to the school or college
Evening again walking practice
Night reading from six o’clock
At seven to go to the temple
Dinner at night at seven thirty
Again reading till nine in the night
Immediate sleep to get up at five in the morning
Practicing the life even now- no school sole difference
Retired twenty years ago
No day passes without the thought of my father!
After my education was over in 1961 and my father’s retirement we were back in Thanjavur our home town.Though he retired, he followed his daily routine getting up in the early morning and retiring to bed by 9pm, for 27 long years. Though myself and my elder brother were in various places on account of our employment,he only made casual visits to us and not to stay for long together! We used to go and visit them for various occasions. That way when we went to Thanjavur for Pongal festival in 1987, he was unusually happy. My last brother was taking care of our parents. He was a post graduate teacher in one of the leading higher secondary schools nearby. He was a noble soul and he could predict his end was coming by 6th March 1987. He cautioned my brother and others in his own way. Exactly on 6th March by 5 am , as he was about to go for temple visit on his morning walk, he got down from the first floor, sat down and died!!!He was indeed a YOGI who could predict his end so accurately! On this day all these matters passthrough my mind which I am sharing with you through this Sunday Story. We shall meet as usual tomorrow and till then MAY GOD BE WITH YOU!
