WITHERING LEAVES AND FALLEN SOLDIERS

Tree In Our Colony. Photoed By S Swetha from our Balcony.

The All powerful Almighty my God created the world nice
With all living beings- man and woman, trees and plants, lakes and seas
All to play supplementary and complimentary role wise
For peace and harmony, joy and happiness, plenty of health =spice!

A beautiful almond tree is there among hundreds in my colony
Spreading its branches far and wide, grown quite tall full of leaves and fruits
Leaves in green become brown on age, wither and fall on earth
Like a man on earth on age withers and dies, later takes a birth!

But look at the young jawans fall dying to terrorism
The army men who guarded our Motherland in hard terrains
Butchered in Kashmir a couple of days ago-sacrificed their life precious
Withered leaves on the top and butchered men at the bottom-REST IN PEACE!

WORLD WAR II-December 29th a sad day.

Image result for Images of II world war

The Lord Almighty created the world and living beings in it
To live in peace and harmony, joy and plenty-loving all strict
Serving all, helping ever and hurting never. Alas what a pity
The world runs amok at times defying all human norms  painful.

December twenty ninth today a sad day in the world history
A year before I was born-atrocious World War two broke -out of Memory!
In  nineteen forty. Second great Fire of London Fire
Bombs killed TWO HUNDRED  poor civilians -cruel.

No more war any where on earth should be aim and endeavor
Of all who count! To day’s war can kill not in hundreds
But in thousands and lakhs. Peace, peace, peace in crores
Of voices on earth- has to make those itching forget wars!

11th International Poetry Fest-2018

Days rolled down fast and September 20th came and we boarded the Chennai -Vijayawada Shadapti Express and we were at Guntur by 13.30 hrs to be warmly  received by the Organizers and we were guided to a nice Hotel NANDURI RESIDENCY in Arundalepet.

About five hundred poets from more than 50 countries attended the Festival.

On 21st the session was devoted to Telugu poets. About 150 poets presented their Telugu poems. I also presented a Telugu poem titled “GEYANIKI REKKALU”- WINGS OF POESY English version is given below:

THROUGH THE WINGS OF POETRY

Oh! My beloved Mother Earth
Can you bless me with your hand

Verdant, fertile acre of land
Far from the madding crowd
Near the hillock and make me proud!
A well with sweet and copious water
A hut to protect from  Sun 0 a shelter
Spreading fragrance – plenty of jasmine
Smearing beauty through silky sunflower
Nectar filled coconut trees around me
Green lush lawn a treat to see!
Blessed with understanding spouse
To pursue the path of virtuous
Through the WINGS OF POETRY!
Dawn to dusk serving the cause of Nature
Thanking you for all they grace!
Oh! My beloved Earth
Providing life to all His creation
How do I show my grateful affection
Sure through bringing peace and amity
Love and kindness
Words and deeds
All in sweetness
All through the Earth!
In the night of 21st, there was a very lively session for poems in vernacular. It was indeed a great experience. I on my part presented the following Tamil poem:

t

TRANSLATION

TOWARDS PEACE!

Peace, peace, peace – lest

Perish, perish, perish.

Let us praise seeking peace- lest

Perishing we see suffering..

World seeks only peace – but

World sees only destruction.

Love and peace our breathing we say- but

What world sees is only struggle.

Great Buddha on earth

Lost his life for peace!

Jesus Christ  incarnate – he

Lost HIS life at the devil’s CROSS!

We sing in praise of Mahatma – yet

Have we listened to his views and voice?

In the name of LOVE he lost his life -beloved

Gandhi was shot to death!

He practiced walk towards peace

He practiced walk towards love!

We salute and sing in his praise- good

Peace we hold and lead our lives.

Let us walk in the path of leaders great

Even sacrificing all, let us  protect peace!

Next two days were devoted to English poetry and about 300 poets presented their English poems and I presented the following:

GLOBAL PEACE AND WAR!

                                                                                                                                    0

Ambassadors of Peace-the assembled poets

From all over the world reading the Festival notes!

Global Peace well in the hands of Ambassadors of Peace

On the pressures we exert on the powers itching with ease!

Ages and ages have seen War and Peace in turn

In times of war world thinks of peace

In times of peace world plans for war!

It’s the war that brings the best in man

All that leaves when the peace is in!

It is the war that keeps the nation united

And keeps the forces at bay that divided!

Lo! Paradox of war and peace!

Love and peace  voice of the world

What we see in this mad,mad world

Going hellward with nuclear mould

Seeking superiority with deadly hold!

Voice of war that was hot and loud

Sure should yield to the voice of peace

With fragrance of love all over the cloud

Bringing rain of joy and plenty ll with ease!

Goodbye to the miseries of the past

Welcome to the mysteries of the future!

Unfolding universal peace and warless world

Unbroken joy and fearless nations

Healthy people and artistic minds

Endless love and deathless humanism!

Poetic disposition and and peaceful possession!

All we need on earth

All we have to work with mirth!

Incidentally I was the only poet to have presented poems in three languages viz Telugu, Tamil and English!

The following poem was presented by S.Nivetha:

WINGS OF FRIENDS

We cannot gather al in one place

To have a wonderful joy and peace

All our fast and great memories on

Like that of the fast, moving fan.

Miles and miles to go walking with friends

The distance of those miles never ends.

Full of pleasure in joyous WINGS OF FRIENDS

Seen in all shapes and colors of kinds!

Love of the friend cannot be got from all

That flows through Niagara falls.

God creates and gives us great friends sure

For us to keep all our lives quite pure!

PEACE NEED OF THE WORLD FOR EVER!

August 06-Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony

Propogation of peace is universal; social, religious, academic, political – all platforms are used to talk about the need for universal peace! “Peace within” and “peace without” is the refrain of all religions all over the world. Hinduism ends all its vedic verses with the words “OM Shanthi, OM Shanthi, OM Shanthi:”-that is “PEACE, PEACE, PEACE.”
There have been apostles of PEACE from time to time Jesus Christ, Goutama Budhdha, Mahaveer, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Vinoba Bhave ……………………………………………………………

While THOUGHT and TALK of PEACE go on eternally, fierce battles and wicked wars were and are witnessed in succession!
Whenever we think of the word “PEACE” automatically our mind goes to the word “WAR” and we are reminded of Leo Tolstoy’s monumental write “War and Peace” and a review reads as:
“War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy,
Tolstoy’s epic masterpiece intertwines the lives of private and public individuals during the time of the Napoleonic wars and the French invasion of Russia. The fortunes of the Rostovs and the Bolkonskys, of Pierre, Natasha, and Andrei, are intimately connected with the national history that is played out in parallel with their lives. Balls and soirees alternate with councils of war and the machinations of statesmen and generals, scenes of violent battles with everyday human passions in a work whose extraordinary imaginative power has never been surpassed.

The prodigious cast of characters seems to act and move as if connected by threads of destiny as the novel relentlessly questions ideas of free will, fate, and providence. Yet Tolstoy’s portrayal of marital relations and scenes of domesticity is as truthful and poignant as the grand themes that underlie them.”

Incidentally some more information on War and Peace:

War and Peace is a novel by the Russian author Leo Tolstoy, which is regarded as a central work of world literature and one of Tolstoy’s finest literary achievements.
The novel chronicles the history of the French invasion of Russia and the impact of the Napoleonic era on Tsarist society through the stories of five Russian aristocratic families. Portions of an earlier version, titled The Year 1805, were serialized in The Russian Messenger from 1865 to 1867. The novel was first published in its entirety in 1869.
Tolstoy said War and Peace is “not a novel, even less is it a poem, and still less a historical chronicle”. Large sections, especially the later chapters, are a philosophical discussion rather than narrative. Tolstoy also said that the best Russian literature does not conform to standards and hence hesitated to call War and Peace a novel. Instead, he regarded Anna Karenina as his first true novel. The Encyclopædia Britannica states: “It can be argued that no single English novel attains the universality of the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace”.
So much of prologue- for this Sunday story in Envius Thoughts in https://nvsr.wordpress.com is today is to think about the day HIROSHIMA PEACE MEMORIAL CEREMONY in Japan. It was on 6th August in 1945- seventy two years ago-that US dropped Atomic Bomb (little Boy) on Hiroshima.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony is an annual Japanese vigil.
Every August 6, “A-Bomb Day”, the city of Hiroshima holds the Peace Memorial Ceremony to console the victims of the atomic bombs and to pray for the realization of lasting world peace. The ceremony is held in front of the Memorial Cenotaph in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. Participants include the families of the deceased and people from all over the world. This traditional ceremony began in 1947 by the then Hiroshima Mayor Shinzo Hamai.

Normally the program of the ceremony is like this:

Satsuki Eda (President of the House of Councillors), Yōhei Kōno(President of the House of Representatives) and Yasuo Fukuda (Prime Minister) offered a silent prayer (August 6, 2008)
Dedication of Water (by the citizen representatives of Hiroshima), accompanied (since 1975) by the music “Prayer Music No. 1: Dirge” by Hibakusha composer Masaru Kawasaki
Opening
Dedication of the Register of the Names of the Fallen Atomic Bomb Victims
Address
Dedication of flowers
Silent Prayer and Peace Bell (for one minute from 8:15am)
The bell is rung by one representative of bereaved families and one representative of children
Peace Declaration (by Mayor of Hiroshima)
Release of Doves
Commitment to Peace (by Children’s representatives)
Addresses (by Prime Minister of Japan and other visitors)
Hiroshima Peace Song, with music by Minoru Yamamoto and lyrics by Yoshio Shigezono
• Closing

The day is observed in several other countries also in a way befitting the occasion.

To think of a war today in 2017, when so many countries proclainng “Nuclear power for peaceful purposese” but are in possession of nuclear weapons- covertly or overtly- none can be definite about the outcome.
The neutral nations like ours –have to play a very important role in this matter as one of the largest democracies of the world commanding respect because of our values and past history down the Father of The Nation one of the greatest apostles of peace.

In the scheme of the Omnipotent Almighty
Who created the Universe- peace and harmony
For the benefit of all living beings in the world;
Man in his need and greed resorts to violence bold!

In the name of Science and development, becomes Master
Resulting in the need for observing a day- faster:
Hiroshima peace Memorial Day is today
Let us focus and work for peace and poise ceaselessly!
