.August 12-International Youth Day.

Said great Swamy Vivekananda – modern Saint
“If I can get some young men of heart and energy,
I shall revolutionize the whole country.”
That indeed is the youth power and energy!

August twelfth today is “International Youth Day”
To focus on the power of youth and their energy
For the world to progress in fields various sure
If only harnessed and guided right by the elders pure!

Not allowing the idea of India
To be a prisoner of narrow-mindedness
And communal ideology –aim of elders
Should be to harness the power of the young!

ON this holy day of Swami  Vivekananda, ENVIUS THOUGHTS thinks it fit to honor him by publishing his poem here.

Behold, the dark clouds melt away,
That gathered thick at night, and hung
So like a gloomy pall above the earth!
Before thy magic touch, the world
Awakes. The birds in chorus sing.
The flowers raise their star-like crowns —
Dew-set, and wave thee welcome fair.
The lakes are opening wide in love
Their hundred thousand lotus-eyes
To welcome thee, with all their depth.
All hail to thee, thou Lord of Light!
A welcome new to thee, today,
O Sun! Today thou sheddest Liberty

Bethink thee how the world did wait,
And search for thee, through time and clime.
Some gave up home and love of friends,
And went in quest of thee, self-banished,
Through dreary oceans, through primeval forests,
Each step a struggle for their life or death;
Then came the day when work bore fruit,
And worship, love, and sacrifice,
Fulfilled, accepted, and complete.
Then thou, propitious, rose to shed
The light of Freedom on mankind.

Move on, O Lord, in thy resistless path!
Till thy high noon o’erspreads the world.
Till every land reflects thy light,
Till men and women, with uplifted head,
Behold their shackles broken, and
Know, in springing joy, their life renewed!

[It is well known that Swami Vivekananda’s death took place on the 4th of July, 1902. On the 4th of July, 1898, he was travelling with some American disciples in Kashmir,  he prepared the above poem and read aloud at the early breakfast. .]

India that is Bharath my holy Motherland
Gave birth to many, many saints and seers great and grand
In the East and west, North and South, central -all over
And the Nation pays its deep reverence for ever.

One such noble soul was born in the East in Eighteen
Thirty Six this day-at Kamarpukar, in the then Bengal
A great spiritualist he turned out to be later
And led the people towards ideal life better.

Gadadhar Chattopadhyay became Ramakrishna
Paramahamsa- a great Mission founded io his

The Saints and monks singing in praise of the Lord
Not lotus eaters but jewels in the head of God
Serving the society in times of distress
Enlightening the people with our songs.

Saints and monks are not idle masters indeed
Are ideal servants helping all in need
We pray, we sing, we serve all at the same time
God has ordained us to be ever in peace.

Saints and monks are not preachers or teachers
But students and servants to love all and serve
Singing the song of harmony and peace
For the world and people to work with ease.

Great seeker of God through truth.

Seeker of the Lord Almighty I am
Singing sweet in praise of Him while I am
Seeker of the pleasure of serving all
To help my grand society stand quite tall.

Seeking pleasure is wrong it is said
Singing sweet in pursuit of pleasure
Mental, intellectual and spiritual
Indeed is great and lasting ideal.

Come on seekers let us all join and sing
The glory of God and His creations
One excelling the other in service
Sure in the world to prevail joy and peace!

Gave birth to many people noble in all her land
Making the nation a proud and happy band!

A saffron clad noble soul attracted the attention
Through his “sisters and brothers of America” address
First disciple of Bhagwan Ramakrishna was born
To uphold the greatness of Hinduism tall and smart.

Swami Vivekananda’s Day is today – holy day
Rightly declared and observed as NATIONAL YOUTH DAY

Fought against the formidable British for decades
Knife less, gun less, in a nonviolent manner-no shade
Of enmity and hatred-hall mark of Karam Chand Gandhi
Father of our nation noble-caste-less, creed-less-shanthi!

World’s greatest democracy blossomed under Mahatmaji
Government was formed under the leadership of Nehruji
Developed tremendous to the chagrin of neighbors
To the awe and wonder of the world nations harbor!

Greatest Republic was born giving unto ourselves
Sacred Constitution of India framed by the great
Not to be tampered with narrow minded rulers to be
Secularism, equality of all in the eyes of Law!

November twenty sixth “Indian Constitution Day”
To be observed and honored by all on the great day
Resolving to uphold the honor and dignity of all
Never let down with thoughts and deeds-to make the Nation tall!

No place for narrow parochialism, regionalism
All irrespective of language and religion walk fast
Walk with pride carrying the poor and have-nots to the last
Abiding by the Law of the land under all times and climes!
