• March 22,: World Water Day

As I begin this week’s Sunday Story some proverbs come to my mind and in the top is:
“Water water every where, but not a drop to drink”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Though water is available in plenty, it is not drinkable!
A fish out of water
Not feeling at home where you are.Blood is thicker than water
Family is more important than anyone or anything else.Don’t make waves
Don’t make trouble; do what others are doing.Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water
When you’re making a change, save what matters to you and dispose off the rest.Don’t wash your clothes in public
Don’t tell private things to people that you may not be able to trust.Dry up your drip
Be quiet. Shut your mouth.

Gone water does not mill anymore
You should not pay attention to what is in the past. Let bygones be bygones.

He is wet behind the ears
He still has a lot to learn about life.

In deep water
In a place you are not feeling comfortable.

It leaks water everywhere
Something is not working properly.

It is like drinking a glass of water
It is very easy to do.

It is raining cats and dogs
It is raining extremely hard.

No sweat
No problem.

Plenty of water ran under bridges
So much time passed by.

Rose water like
Something not accurately worked out.

Still waters run deep
The quiet people can be the smartest and wisest.

That is water under a bridge
It is in the past now.

The drop that makes a vase overflow
Something is no longer bearable.

They are like water and fire/
They are like devil and holy water

These two people are absolutely contrasting.

To be in bad waters
To be in a difficult position.

To discover warm water
Something is very obvious.

To have water up to the throat
To have few chances to succeed.

To keep water in one’s mouth
To keep a secret.

To lose oneself in a glass of water/
To drown in a glass of water

To be easily discouraged.

To make a hole into the water/
To pound water in a mortar

Making vain attempts.

To throw water on fire
To cool down a hot matter.

To work under water
Hiding one’s real intentions.

Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink
To be surrounded by things you make cannot use of.
(There is so much salt water that you can’t drink. Only 1% of the earth’s water is fresh water.

You bring water to the sea
You take advantage of something.

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink
You can tell someone something but they will not do it or remember it.

You draw water to your own mill
You only act in your own advantage.

You’re a sitting duck
You’re open to danger.

You’re in hot water
You’re in trouble.

You’re walking on thin ice
You are close to getting in trouble.

You trouble the water
You make mischief.

World Water Day, is today the twenty second March is about focusing attention on the importance of water.
This year’s theme, ‘Water and Climate Change’, explores how water and climate change are inextricably intertwined.

Naturally as the world population grows, so does the demand for water, which depletes natural resources and damages the environment in many places. Solutions include protecting carbon sinks such as oceans and wetlands, adopting climate-smart agricultural techniques, and increasing the safe reuse of wastewater.Water is our most precious resource – we must use it more responsibly. We must balance all of society’s water needs while ensuring the poorest people don’t get left behind.

The World Water Day 2020 campaign explains statements such as:

  • We cannot afford to wait. Climate policy makers must put water at the heart of action plans.
  • Water can help fight climate change. There are sustainable, affordable and scaleble water and sanitation solutions.
  • Everyone has a role to play. In our daily lives, there are surprisingly easy steps we can all take to address climate change.

RAINY DAYS!

Prompted by the weekly prompt of Blogging Meet here is prompted poem:
RAINY DAYS have made grand arrival! Yes the great gift of Nature alias God!
PAINY DAYS are these to many-going to schools and offices and outside home
With umbrellas failing to protect from rains heavy, Rain coat
Out of its place from the cupboard helps walking or driving two wheelers!
Getting cold and fever as a result of getting drenched in rain-a pain!
Even after the RAIN stops, drizzles continue through TREE LEAVES and branches!
RAIN essential for the world as the Saint Poet of Tamilnadu says in his Magnum Opus THIRUKKURAL written years two thousand and three hundred ago!:
Chapter Two
GLORY OF RAIN
11.
On rain, rests the world
Sure for its prosperity
Treat rain –nectar bold! (11)

12.
It helps grow great food
Sans water no agriculture
Quenches thirsty world! (12)

13.
Water all in sea
Helps not life on earth so well
Rain water gives glee! (13)

14.
Rain sustains the world
Makes the fertile land yield more
Sans farmers can’t mould! (14)
15.
By absence, rain destroys
Life, living, people and the world
By care it creates! (15)
16.
If rain fails to grace
The earth with its compassion
No grass you can trace! (16)
17.
Ocean becomes dry
When the sky bears not the clouds
People made to cry! (17)
18.
Rain – gift of nature
Whenever denied to the world
Bleak – nobles’ future! (18)
19.
When powerful rain fails
Noble charity gets failed
Nobles’ penance falls! (19)
20.
Sans water no life
When the Lord of Rain conspires
Virtue faces knife! (20)

“GREAT RAINS” GIFT OF NATURE/ GOD A HUMBLE PRAYER.

Image result for Images for PRAYER FOR RAIN

Middle of JUNE is gone-gone sans rains-my God or Nature Why this punishment
To me a citizen of Chennai. I know I have not been good to any,
I do not love all,  serve all-though I say help ever hurt never, I follow not strict
I deserve to be denied of Thy grace Lord Varuna- but not my kith and kin here!

By now year after year we use to get the grace of Rain God –and blessed
With RAIN- this year not till now!. Prayers are on seeking your grace
Every nook and corner- Be kind enough to bring in RAIN to this starved city
Of Chennai. For drinking water and other purposes we do not get water enough.

We pay heavily and exorbitantly for the little water, to those who help us
We can only pray, beg you to bring us rains and do rain water harvesting!
Oh! Lord Varuna-Rain God- kindly lend us your ears and bless us with rain
May all  living beings humans and  animals, trees and plants get their thirst quenched!

WELCOME JUNE!

Image result for images to say good bye to summer and welcome June a new academic year

Hearty WELCOME to JUNE forms the content for this week’s Sunday Story in Envius Thoughts! Children and elders were enjoying a nice vacation in the last two months! School holidays mean children can enjoy a larger sleep, no need to get up early, prepare themselves for the school/college, get up as they liker, have frood as they wish, play as they feel in the hot sun notwithstanding! Naturally when the children are not in a hurry, parents too feel a little leisurely! Visiting friends and relatives, kith and kin, local and away-in fact a great time in a year to enjoy- no matter Sun is at his worst in May! Parks and play grounds, private and public full of activities all through the summer vacation! Cool drink shops- ever the people in que- requesting cold Apple juice, Banana milk shake, carrot juice, grape juice, ice cream of any flavor, jack fruit juice, keerani juice, lemon juice, mango milk shake, mulaampaza juice, orange juice, pomo juice, rose milk, sweet lemon juice, water melon juice and what not!
Coconut water, sugar cane juice and palmyra tree gifted NUNGU will do enormous good to our health during summer.

Sommer coming happily water scarcity scaring at the society! Very hard to believe that a tanker of water normally available for Rs 800 or so, shot up to 3000 rupees-horrible indeed! When the Government says there is no water for supplying, where do these thousands of private water tankers get water uninterruptedly- a million dollar question! Government’s apathy, insensitivity, in efficiency?????????????????????.
Summer season travel horrible again-notwithstanding extra fleet of buses, long distance bus standing travel! In spite of advanced train bookings, non availability for those who have to make urgent journeys! People standing in the toilets in the second class compartment! Not imaginasry but the actual experience of this blogger!!!

When children go out for play under the hot sun, on the one side parents feel relieved that the children are not making life horrible sitting at home- on the other worried that playing in hot sun may affect the health of the children!
But look at the pitiable condition of the sweepers, cleaners -street beautifiers who have to work in hot sun or otherwise! There are similarly placed workers everywhere.
There is a period called AGNI NATCHATHIRAM -this year it was from May 3rd to 29thy during which period sun rays will be at the worst and no fan, Ac etc can be of much help! When the sea breeze sets in the coastal areas, evenings may a little pleasant. I use to enjoy for a few minutes intermittently when I go for my morning walk between three and four and evening 5 and 6 in our Youth World in Jeevan Bima Nagar , Chennai where I live.

This June has a special significance for all of us-  the residents of JEEVAN BIMA NAGAR which is celebrating SILVER JUBILEE on 15th and 16th in a magnificent manner- bringing out the talents within the colony and from outside to provide wholesome joy to the inmates of the colony.

A rare and happy occasion for all of us especially the seniors like me as  we can enjoy GOLDEN JUBILEE only from our HEAVENLY ABODE!
I recollect my Haiku poems on SUMMER which I give below though a repeat of long back:

Among the seasons Four
Summer has its own charm
Here are some Haiku nice
Enjoy/suffer along with summer!

1
Summer and winter
Part of Nature – God made sure
Accept with heart pure!
2
Summer is pleasant
To write “Mid summer night’s dream”
Sky throws a crescent!
3
Summer and winter
Brings out the great truth of life
Hot and cold glitter!
4
Sure the world needs both
Hot summer and cold winter
Ensure peoples’ growth!
5
Hot summer brings joy
To my children, the schools close
Nice time to enjoy!
6
Summer has glory
For all of us to enjoy
Can make a story!
7
Summer is pleasant
To all those who have a mind
To taste the crescent!
8
Summer can be cold
As cold as Himalayas
Mind to be quite bold!
9
Great summer showers
Bring mice relief, joy and cheers
Nature’s strong powers!
10
Summer gets flowers
Exotic and excellent
People in great cheers!

Summer knows no discrimination. It is equally harsh for all-big or small, rich or poor, men or women, employed or unemployed, well read or ill read!
Well June has just arrived bringing cheers and responsibilities, activities and attendant duties. Monsoon is expected to arrive shortly. Schools and colleges are to be opened for yet another onset of academic year. Payment of heavy fees, purchase of loads of books and notebooks for children. For my entire studies from Class one to University course, I would not have spent a lakh! Today a school nearby is collecting a couple of lakhs of rupees for PRE KG/LKG.! Is it education has become so costly and quality proportionately increased! Parents paying capacity increased!
I remember in late fifties I walked 16 miles a day for to-fro college in Karaikudi for want of 2+2 = 4 annas for college bus! Today boys and girls of elementary and high school classes go by school bus for a school that is just 500 meters from home in my colony! Naturally we find 4th or 6th standard boys and girls awkwardly OBESE!
One thing I have to admit is that the present day students in all ages are much more intelligent and better general knowledgeable than what I was at that stage!
Well wishing a happy and successful new academic year, we end this sunday story at this stage. Till we meet tomorrow as usual may GOD BE WITH YOU!

Today March Twenty second is  WORLD WATER DAY with the theme
For this year twenty Eighteen: “NATURE FOR WATER”.to scheme
And explore how to use Nature to meet the water challenges
Of the century. Floods and droughts-with water pollution!
Elixir and nectar of life- graciously granted
By Nature- manifestation of the Lord Almighty
For us to take care of – our rivers  treated as MOTHER
Sure not to be misused to carry factory wastes!
Man the roof and crown of creation cannot be ruthless
And spoil the water bodies and sources at any cost- useless
Leading the entire living beings to suffer-humans
And animals, trees and plants-let us resolve to save!
